Dinwiddie History >
Originally Dinwiddie was the site of a trading post, which was
built in 1646. That trading post gradually grew into the town and
county itself. Noted for its rich Civil War history, Dinwiddie county
is site to the battle of Five Forks, often referred to as the "Waterloo"
of the Confederacy, and White Oak Road also welcomes visitors. Interesting
landmarks include the circa 1851 Greek Revival-styled Courthouse,
fully renovated in 2002.

major cities and has easy access to these centers through the area's
excellent highway, rail, and air networks. Nearby cities include
